As part of the “ National Pharmacy week celebrations” a poster presentation competition was conducted for all the Pharmacy college in and around Chennai in the college premises. Prizes were awarded to the best three entries.
The students also participated in a community awareness rally on the Rational use of Antibiotics which was supported by “Venus Pharma”. We celebrated the “ Womens day” in the college premises.
Every year our college celebrates National Pharmacy Week in the Third Week of November. As part of the celebrations various sports and cultural Activities are also conducted among the students and the Prizes are awarded to the Winners. On this occasion Best Outgoing Students of D.Pharm, B.Pharm & M.Pharm are awarded Medals.
For the current year 2010 – 2011 The best out going student in M.Pharm is Mr. A. Satya Santhosh, in B.Pharm Mr. CH. Venkatesh, in D.Pharm Ms. B. Priya.
Our students also participated in Pharmacy Day Celebrations conducted by the Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai. They Won the Third Prize in the Quiz Competition and Cash Prize for the Group Dance Competition. Our students also participated in the Quiz Competition conducted by Madras Medical College, Chennai. One of our students Mr. Samson of III B.Pharm participated in the Elocution competition held at C.L.Baid Metha College of Pharmacy. Our staff and students participated in the rally at Marina beach on 26th November 2011 to create awareness about the Role of Pharmacist to the public in connection with Golden Jubilee National Pharmacy week celebration. The Rally was inaugurated by Chennai Mayor Mr. Saidai Duraiswamy.
The Batch of 2010- 2011 students of B.pahrmacy and I year M.Pharmacy went on an Educational Tour to Delhi, Agra, Chandighar, and Shimla from 2.01.2011 to 12.01.2011. During this tour they visted "SWISS GARNIER LIFE SCIENCES" a Pharma Industry at Mahatpur Dist, UNA, Himachal Pradesh. Mr.L.RAMANI, General Manger welcomed our staff and students and explained the functioning of various machineries and instruments used in the Industry. Students were benefited by observing the actual working of machines and instruments. They also enjoyed the tour with the Snow and ice in the hilly areas of Shimla. Prof Dr. K.SENTHILKUMARAN, HOD, Department of Pharmaceutics arranged the Industrial visit and also accompanied the students.
K.K.College of Pharmacy has been conducting Guest Lectures for M.Pharm & B.Pharm student from the eminent personalities in Pharmaceutical Industry. Prof Dr. Manavalan, from Annamalai university had a staff interaction to motivate and encourage research activities and innovative methods of teaching Pharmacy. In connection with the pharmacy week celebrations, we had a guest lecture on drug information centre by Dr. Lakshmi which highlighted the clinical aspects of the Pharmacy profession.
Mr. Ramalingam M.Pharm., Senior General Manager, Plant I FOURRTS (INDIA ) Pvt. Ltd delivered a guest lecture on " STABILITY TESTING OF PHARMACEUTICALS IN A GLOBAL SCENARIO" on 20.08.2011, which was attended by postgraduate pharmacy students from Jaya College of Pharmacy, Annai Velankanni Pharmacy College and P.G & Final Year B.Pharmacy students and staff of K.K.College of Pharmacy. The lecture was quite interesting and thought provoking of how the Pharmaceutical Industry is working in a Global Scenario.
The Journal Club of our college was inaugurated by Prof. A. Meena, Principal on 18.11.2011. The Guest of Honour for the inaugural function was Prof. A. Shanthi. The Journal Club was blessed by Prof. Dr. V. Vaidyalingam, Director, K.K.College of Pharmacy. The purpose of the club is to share the latest Information and developments in the pharmaceutical field among the teachers and students community. The Inaugural Presentation was given by Prof. Dr. K. Senthilkumaran, Head, Department of Pharmaceutics, on "FLOATING DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS", which was well received by students and faculties. It was decided to have a Journal Club meeting every fortnight.
The Quiz Club of our college was Inagurated by Prof. Dr. V.Vaidyalingam on 01.12.2011. The purpose of the club is to make the students gain awareness on Current Affairs related to life sciences. The Inagural Quiz programme was conducted by Mrs. K. Sonia in which the students participated actively. It was decided to have a Quiz Programme every fortnight.
PHARMAZINE:
The college magazine “Pharmazine” was released as a part of 52nd National Pharmacy Week Celebration. which is a true literary & creative document of the talents of staff & students of K.K. College of Pharmacy.
Every year our college staff and students donate blood generously to the needy people in association with Blood Bank, The Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R.Medical University, Guindy, Chennai.
Our final year B.Pharm student Miss. Shravani presented her research paper in National Symposium on mathametical modelling in drug development and drug delivery at ultra college of pharmacy madhurai on 28th and 29th march 2012.
